What is a photo eye sensor on a garage door?
The photo eye is attached at the base of your garage door as a safety measure. It detects a beam from the other side of the garage door and will prevent the door from closing if it senses something breaking the beam. This can prevent damage to the door if something is in the way like a bicycle or some lawn equipment, but more importantly it can prevent injury if a person or pet is in the path of the door.
